In a groundbreaking move to enhance Aadhaar services, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has partnered with Bengaluru-based GenAI startup, Sarvam AI. This collaboration, effective from March 18, aims to integrate AI-powered voice assistance and fraud detection into Aadhaar-related services, making interactions more seamless and secure for residents.

How the Partnership Benefits Aadhaar Users

With the implementation of AI-driven voice support, users will experience a more intuitive interface when accessing Aadhaar services. The system will assist in providing feedback on enrollment and updates while actively identifying cases where service providers overcharge users.

Moreover, real-time fraud detection will play a crucial role in safeguarding Aadhaar holders by sending immediate alerts in case of suspicious authentication requests. The AI-powered solution will support 10 major Indian languages, including Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi, and Malayalam, with plans for further expansion soon.

Future Plans & Expansion

The initial agreement is valid for one year, with the possibility of extension for another year. UIDAI’s move to integrate GenAI into its services underscores its vision for a more technologically advanced and user-friendly Aadhaar ecosystem.

Additionally, Sarvam AI’s founders recently expressed their intent to submit a proposal under the IndiaAI mission, aiming to develop foundational AI models in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
